Editorial policy

This policy sets out how Varahi9 Media reports, verifies and presents the news. It applies to every story we publish, in English and in Telugu.

Accuracy

• We report what we can establish, and we say how we know it.
• Names, figures, dates and quotations are checked against their source before publication.
• When something cannot yet be confirmed, the story says so plainly.

Sources and attribution

• We name our sources wherever we can. When a source cannot be named, the story explains why, and we rely on that source only for information we have checked independently.
• Material from other publishers, agencies and social media is credited to its origin.
• Quotations are reproduced as spoken. A quotation we have translated is marked as a translation.

News and opinion

News reports present facts. Analysis and opinion are labelled as such, so a reader always knows which they are reading.

Independence and conflicts of interest

• Editorial decisions are taken by the newsroom, independently of advertisers, sponsors and commercial partners.
• A journalist with a personal, financial or political interest in a story declares it to the editor and steps away from that story where the interest could affect, or appear to affect, their judgement.
• Sponsored or paid content, if we carry it, is labelled clearly and kept apart from news.

AI-assisted content

• AI tools may assist our journalists with tasks such as transcription, translation or a first draft. A journalist and an editor review every story before it is published, and the newsroom is responsible for everything it publishes.
• A story prepared with AI assistance carries a disclosure on the story page.
• We do not present AI-generated images or audio as records of real events.

Bylines and dates

Every story shows who published it and when. A story that has been updated shows the time of its latest change.

Corrections

We correct errors openly, on the story itself. Our corrections policy explains how, and how to tell us about an error.
